Fresh mango, lime, tajín chili-salt & sparkling water
Tajín — the blend of mild chili, lime, and salt — was created in Guadalajara in 1985 and has since become one of Mexico's most successful exports. But Mexicans had been putting chili and lime on mango long before the brand existed. This agua fresca is the drink form of that tradition.
Ataulfo (honey) mangoes are sweeter and less fibrous than Tommy Atkins. The tajín rim is essential — it transforms every sip. For an adult version without alcohol, add a pinch of cayenne to the blend for serious heat.
