About This Drink

Indian Accent is chef Manish Mehrotra's globally acclaimed New York outpost, beloved for reimagining Indian classics through a fine-dining perspective. Their Soft Cocktails menu treats zero-proof drinks with the same seriousness as the main bar programme. Mudra Punch takes its name from the Sanskrit word for a hand gesture used in classical Indian dance and yoga — a nod to the grace and intentionality behind the drink's construction. Rose sharbat (a traditional Indian rose-petal concentrate) provides the backbone, paired with fresh almond milk for creaminess and finished with toasted coconut for a warm, tropical echo. It drinks like a grown-up version of a childhood rose milk.

Rose sharbat (concentrate, not rose water) gives this drink its body — dilute 1:4 with water if you are using a thicker brand. Rooh Afza is the most widely available brand; Mapro Rose is another excellent option. The almond milk and coconut are a natural partnership — use full-fat coconut cream (not coconut milk) for a richer texture.
