About This Drink

Turmeric (haldi in Hindi — the golden root that colours everything from curry to skin care) is Copra's signature ingredient in cocktail form. Olehna is a California craft spirit brand built around turmeric — the spirit captures haldi's earthy, slightly peppery, distinctly golden character in a distilled format. Marigold (genda phool in Hindi — the sacred flower of Indian weddings, temples, and festivals) appears here as an amaro, contributing bitter floral depth. Lemon brightens. Soda lifts. The result is a spritz that looks like sunshine in a glass and tastes like the Copra kitchen's approach to food: Indian ingredients, fine-dining precision.

Olehna Turmeric Spirit is made in California specifically for cocktails — its turmeric character is vibrant and clear, not muddy or medicinal. If unavailable, substitute 40ml vodka + 5ml turmeric syrup (simmer ½ tsp turmeric powder in 100ml simple syrup, cool, strain well). Dried marigold petals are sold as 'calendula' at natural food stores and as 'genda phool' at Indian grocery stores.

Replace soda with sparkling rosé for a more wine-forward spritz.

A Pacific Heights gem where Indian flavours meet California produce. Copra's bar programme is built on house-made infusions and seasonal ingredients — jaggery, kokum, dried mango, fresh turmeric — interpreted through a California craft cocktail lens. The result is a drinks menu that feels simultaneously rooted in the subcontinent and completely native to San Francisco.
